high polished bronze

A potato that was molded from the original and then cast in bronze. After casting, its surface was honed and polished, until it shines like a mirror. The viewer and the space that surrounds them are reflected on its surface.

Bronze hochpoliert

Eine vom Original abgeformte und anschließend in Bronze gegossene Kartoffel. Nach dem Guß wurde ihre Oberfläche fein geschliffen und zum Schluss hochpoliert, bis sie wie ein Spiegel glänzt. Sie spiegelt auf ihrer Oberfläche ihren Betrachter und den Raum, der sie umgibt.

ブロンズ鏡面仕上げ

金色に輝くいびつな球状のオブジェクトに近づくと、鑑賞者は鏡のようなその表面に映し出される自らの姿と歪んだ周囲の風景を見ることができる。特徴的なくぼみや形から、それらのオブジェクトはひとつひとつ異なったジャガイモの形をしていることに気が付く。日常生活の中でありふれながら、意識する事も無く消費されていく物質、それらをブロンズ鋳造し、鏡面になるまで磨き上げる行為は、一つの失われゆく形を保持するとともに、周囲を写し込むことによって、見るものと見られるもの、主体と客体の関係を転換し、自己の日常や当たり前の風景をもう一度観察するきっかけへと誘う。
